Violin

Julie Signitzer, violinist, holds a Master’s degree in violin performance. Upon completion of graduate school she moved to Austria for 4 years where she first performed as a member of the Graz Opera Orchestra and then the Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg.

New York City was next where she lived and worked as a freelance violinist for over 20 years. She toured throughout the U.S. with various Broadway shows, orchestras and opera companies including the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the City Opera National Company and has performed many seasons with the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra.

Julie was described as “Zestful” by the New York Times in a review of her performance in Hot Klezmer, an off-Broadway show. While living in NYC she was on the faculty of the Hoff-Barthelson Music School, Brooklyn Music School and the Harlem School of the Arts. Upon moving to upstate NY via the Catskills, Julie founded the Little Delaware Chamber Players and the Little Delaware Youth Ensemble which she directed until 2015. She also held adjunct positions at Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta as professor of violin. For many years she maintained a private violin studio where she taught many Cooperstown residents.

Julie recently moved fulltime from Albany NY to Cooperstown where she intends to slowly slide into retirement, if possible.
