Martha Grener

Second Flute / Piccolo

Martha Grener is a freelance flutist and music educator. She chose to play the flute at a very young age when her grandparents took her to a flute recital! The piccolo came much later, when in a high school band rehearsal, Martha’s band teacher handed her a piccolo at the beginning of a rehearsal. It was trial by fire and she had much joy in taming the “little devil stick” to be its true, sometimes misunderstood, sweet self!

Noted for solo recitals and chamber music, Martha has performed for many concert series including Jackson Series at Utica College, Arts Across Campus at Onondaga Community College, Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music, Civic Morning Musicals, and more. Ms. Grener also regularly performs as an extra with Symphoria and other orchestras in New York state.

She enjoys her wonderful students at Onondaga Community College and Lemoyne College, as well as her many private students. She loves her life with her Einstein like husband and their zany 9 year old goldendoodle Coco! When not practicing, Ms. Grener loves taking long walks in any beautiful setting and working in her flower garden. Her favorite orchestral composer is Ravel, who, to her, paints beautiful musical landscapes and depicts wonderful, animated stories! Outside of orchestral music, she would be found listening to the music of Paul Simon, James Taylor, the Beatles, and any music with a message of hope, peace and love.
